Description of the logo and motto

— Motto: «Hoping Together”
In choosing the motto, we wanted to emphasise the dual meaning of the Holy Father’s apostolic journey to Mongolia, that of a pastoral visit and a state visit. A purely Christian virtue (hope), but one that is also widely shared in non-Christian circles, was therefore chosen, combining it with the adverb «together» to underline the importance of bilateral cooperation between the Holy See and Mongolia. «Hoping together» thus represents a common ideal and also an element that we believe can characterise this apostolic journey: the presence of the Holy Father represents for this small portion of the People of God a sign of great hope and encouragement and on the other hand the Church that is in Mongolia, with its smallness and marginality, can offer a sign of hope for the universal Church.

— Logo: above the inscription (prepared in Mongolian, English and Italian) is a sketch of the map of Mongolia, outlined in the colours of the national flag (red and blue); inside is a ger (the traditional Mongolian tent — pronounced with a hard ‘g’), from which a yellow smoke (the colour of the Vatican) flows upwards. To the right of the ger stands a cross. The ger and the cross are contained between two vertical inscriptions, echoing the motto («hoping together»): this is the traditional Mongolian script, now finally reintroduced and widely used, in addition to the Cyrillic script that was imposed in 1946; it is very representative of Mongolian culture and will be reintroduced in official documents from 2025.
